WICKEN FEN - GREETING CARD - A5
WICKEN FEN - GREETING CARD - A5
Hand-drawn picture of Wicken Fen printed in black and white onto cotton rag paper, complete with brown envelope and cello bag.
This particular landscape pen and ink drawing is inspired from the strange and compelling land that is Wicken Fen.
In this picture you can see the free roaming konik ponies fight, spot the otters, snipe, water voles, bitterns, hen harriers and sedge warblers amongst the grass and reeds; as well as catch a glimpse of the black shuck (the legendary devil dog of the fens) in the forest shadows.
There are 1076 kinds of beetles and 737 of butterflies and moths, including the most famous insect of the fens - the nearly extinct swallowtail butterfly. You can spot the butterfly resting beautifully on a skull and notice the crane and its newly hatched chick (It’s been 120 years since a rare crane chick has hatched, and now it has happened here - in Wicken Fen).
